About Ataturk University

The history of Ataturk University is the realization of one of the important projects of the Republic of Turkey, Ataturk University was officially founded in June 7, 1957, the founder of the republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, in his opening speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in  1937, stated the need to establish a large University in Eastern Anatolia and gave instructions to start studies on this issue.  

After the death of Ataturk, these studies were interrupted for 12 years In 1950, it was again put on the agenda by the third president, Celal Bayar, in his speech at the opening  of the Grand National Assembly. Based on this, the topic was included in its program, and the Office of the Universities of the Ministry of National Education sent a letter to the deans of universities on this topic. 

Finally, the commission made its decision, so, Ataturk University was officially founded in 1957

Ataturk University has a campus that adopts the vision of a nature-friendly life with its green areas, gardens, large trees and colorful bicycle paths.

 it consists of 23 faculties, 13 institutes and 8 master's programs distributed within the campus.
