There are two types of opportunities offered to students under the Erasmus program:

1.    Student exchange for the purpose of study abroad, where the student gets the opportunity to study at a European university for one or two semesters, provided that there is the same specialization in the university in which he wants to study, and an agreement for student exchange is required according to this program between the two universities.

The application is made through the university, where the comparison is made between students in terms of academic excellence and foreign languages that the student masters, and accordingly, the names of the students are nominated to the other university with the student's pledge to commit to success in and obtain an average of at least 70% in the courses that he will study at the other university, and after the end of the semester or the two semester, the courses that have been studied are equalized and added to the student's academic program.

In the event that the student is a graduate student (master's or doctorate), after the agreement between the supervisor of the thesis in the universities of Turkey and the supervisor in the European University, the student is allowed to conduct research and studies and be approved as part of the thesis.

The student is paid a monthly stipend ranging between 300-500 euros depending on the cost of living in the country to which he will travel. After the end of the study period abroad, the student returns to continue study in Turkey and the student  graduates from the mother university with mention of the period of  study that the student completed in the universities of the European Union.

2.    Exchange with the aim of training and acquiring practical skills, as it allows the student to choose an educational or non-educational institution such as a hospital for medical students, a leading company for business students, or a car manufacturing lab for mechanical engineering students for a training period ranging from two to 12 months.

In both types, the student has the right to apply for the program more than once, provided that the period does not exceed 12 months.
