How Imtiyaz Education Helps International Students Study in Turkey - From First Email to First Day of Class
Most international students who come to us have already spent weeks trying to figure things out on their own. They've read the university website three times, started filling out an online form, then stopped because they weren't sure if their documents needed an apostille or a notary, or both. They've emailed the international admissions office and waited two weeks for a reply that didn't fully answer the question. A few of them have sent a deposit to the wrong bank account.
This is not a criticism of universities. Turkish universities have admissions offices doing their best across hundreds of applications from 80+ countries simultaneously. But their job is to process your enrollment not to hold your hand through every step of the journey from your home country to your first semester. That gap is exactly what Imtiyaz Education exists to fill.
We are a licensed study-in-Turkey agency physically based in Istanbul, operating since 2015. We've helped over 3,000 international students from 47 countries enroll in Turkish universities across medicine, engineering, dentistry, pharmacy, law, business, architecture, and more. We work with over 60 universities across Istanbul, Ankara, and Northern Cyprus through registered, contracted partnerships which means your application doesn't go in as a cold submission from an unknown portal. It goes through an established channel that the admissions team recognizes and prioritizes.
But if you ask what actually separates us from just applying directly to the university it's not the admission itself. Any organized student can get admitted. What the university won't do is everything that comes after.
What the University Won't Do; And We Do
Here is something honest that most agencies won't say out loud: the university's international office will issue your acceptance letter, send you a payment link, and maybe wish you good luck. What they won't do is meet you at the airport at 2am. They won't walk into the immigration bureau alongside you on day 28 of your arrival when your ikamet appointment is the next morning and you still don't have a translated copy of your rental agreement. They won't call your landlord when the gas meter hasn't been transferred to your name and it's winter. They won't help you choose between two programs that have similar names but wildly different career outcomes.
We do all of those things.
Our team is not a remote call center. We are people physically in Istanbul multilingual, licensed, and for the most part, former international students ourselves. A significant portion of our staff studied at Turkish universities as international students, went through exactly the same admission process, the same ikamet appointments, the same confusion at the PTT office, the same first week of trying to figure out how anything works in a new country. They graduated from those universities and chose to stay and build a career here. That's not a marketing line. That's why when a student calls us on a Wednesday afternoon with a problem, the person who answers has lived the same situation and knows exactly what needs to happen.
The university's international office staff, respectful and helpful as they are, mostly don't have that experience. They've processed the paperwork. Our team has been the student holding the paperwork.
The 10 Things We Handle; In Full Detail
1. Free Initial Consultation
Your first conversation with us costs nothing. A qualified consultant reviews your academic background, your budget, your target program, and your long-term goals and recommends universities and programs that genuinely fit your profile. We work with over 60 Turkish universities, and we're not going to push you toward the one that pays us the highest commission. Our long-term relationship with students depends on recommending the right match, not the profitable one. That consultation is free, and it comes with no obligation.
2. Document Preparation and Legal Certification
Incorrect documentation is the single most common reason applications are delayed or rejected. Turkish university admissions require specific certified, translated, and in many cases apostilled documents and the requirements vary by faculty. A medical school has different document standards than a business faculty. What's accepted from a Pakistani secondary school certificate differs from what's needed for a Yemeni baccalaureate.
Our team reviews every document before anything is submitted. High school diploma, transcripts, passport copy, language proficiency certificates, any additional faculty-specific requirements we go through all of it and tell you exactly what needs notarization, what needs an official translation, and where to get it done properly in your home country. We have our own in-house legal translators. We are not outsourcing this to a third-party document shop. Our translators are qualified, and our translations are accepted by universities and immigration authorities without question.
This alone saves students weeks of back-and-forth and sometimes saves an entire application cycle.
3. University Application Submission
We submit your application directly to the international admissions office through our contracted channel. Because of our established partnership with over 60 universities, your file is recognized, processed faster, and followed up on actively. We contact the admissions team daily until a decision is issued. You don't wait and wonder. We tell you what's happening at each stage.
4. Acceptance Letter and Offer Review
When your offer arrives, we sit with you and go through it. Tuition confirmed. Scholarship amount verified. Program duration, conditions, any attached requirements all of it explained before you make any payment or commitment. We've seen students accept offers with conditions they didn't understand, or pay deposits before reviewing scholarship clauses. We don't let that happen.
5. Student Visa Support
A Turkish student visa is processed at the Turkish consulate in your home country, and the requirements vary meaningfully by country. We prepare your complete visa application package acceptance letter, financial proof documentation, health insurance letter, accommodation confirmation and advise you on the exact documents your specific consulate requires and the realistic processing timeline. We don't give you a generic checklist. We tell you what your consulate is currently asking for.
6. Airport Pickup; VIP Transfer
When you land in Istanbul, we are there. Our team meets you at the airport regardless of your arrival time 7am, midnight, it doesn't matter. We take you directly to your accommodation in a private VIP car. You don't arrive alone in a city you've never visited, dragging luggage onto a public bus at midnight trying to find an address you've never been to. That's a bad start to an experience that should be exciting. We make sure your first hours in Turkey feel manageable.
No Turkish university international office offers this. We do.
7. Housing Setup and On-Ground Support
We help you secure housing before you even land. Options include university dormitories, contracted student residences, and private apartments near your campus and we know each one because we've placed hundreds of students in them. We know which dorms have slow maintenance response times. We know which neighborhoods near which campus are actually livable for international students versus which ones look affordable on paper and turn out to be inconvenient.
When you sign your rental agreement, we can be there. When your gas meter needs to be transferred to your name, we handle the utility company contact. Electricity setup, water registration, internet contract we do this. These things are confusing in your own country. In a country where the official language isn't yours, they're a full day of stress. We remove that.
Your landlord doesn't speak your language. We do. Your dorm management communicates in Turkish. We do too. Any time you need someone to contact a landlord, a dorm manager, a building official, or a university staff member on your behalf throughout your studies, not just your first week you call us and we make the call.
8. Ikamet (Residence Permit) Application
Every international student in Turkey must apply for a residence permit the ikamet within 30 days of arrival. Missing this window carries real consequences. The process requires specific documents, a scheduled appointment at the immigration bureau, and typically Turkish-language interaction throughout. Errors at this stage cause delays that can affect your student status.
Our Istanbul team physically goes with you to the immigration bureau. We prepare all required documents. We submit the application. We monitor your case until the ikamet card is physically in your hands. This is one of the biggest sources of stress for new international students in Turkey. For our students, it's handled.
9. Health Insurance and Bank Account; First Week Done
Turkish student health insurance registration and local bank account setup both require in-person visits with specific documentation. We manage both within your first week. By the time your first week ends, your ikamet application is submitted, your health insurance is active, and you have a functioning Turkish bank account. You're settled. You can focus on orientation.
10. Ongoing Support Throughout Your Studies
Our relationship with students doesn't end at registration. If you have a problem with a faculty administrative process in your second year, we're still your contact. If you need document translation for a follow-up immigration appointment, we handle it. If you need help with course selection at the start of a new semester understanding which electives fit your program track, what the academic calendar implications are we advise on that too. We've been through the same university system. We know how it works from the inside.
Why We Are Better Than Applying Directly
This is not a claim we make lightly. Here is the factual comparison:
Applying directly to the university gets you an admissions officer who processes your file among hundreds of others, may take one to three weeks to reply to emails, and whose job ends the moment your acceptance letter is issued.
Applying through Imtiyaz Education gets you a team that was physically there when you landed, has already confirmed your housing, knows your program requirements, has our own legal translators on staff, has exclusive logistics partnerships with transportation and accommodation providers in Istanbul, and remains your active point of contact for the full duration of your studies.
We have exclusive agency partnerships with over 60 Turkish universities which means in many cases, we have direct lines to decision-makers in the admissions office, not just the general inquiry inbox. We have contracted arrangements with accommodation providers and transportation services in Istanbul, built over nearly a decade of placing students. When something needs to happen fast an urgent document, a housing change, an ikamet complication we can move quickly in ways that a student acting alone simply cannot.
And all of this the consultation, the application, the document review, the visa support, the airport pickup, the ikamet accompaniment, the housing setup is provided to you at no cost, under one condition: that Imtiyaz Education is your first and primary agency for the application. We earn our revenue from the universities, not from students. You pay nothing to access every service we provide.
The Staff Who Make This Work
We've mentioned this before but it's worth being clear about: a meaningful portion of our team studied in Turkey as international students. They went through the same admission process you're going through. They sat in the same immigration bureau waiting rooms. They argued with a landlord through a language barrier. They figured out how the PTT works, how the student transport card is loaded, which university cafeteria is actually good and which one to avoid.
They graduated from Turkish universities many of the same universities we work with and they chose to stay and build their careers in Istanbul. That lived experience is not something a university international office can replicate. Those offices are staffed by people whose professional life began inside the university administration. Our team's professional life began as international students navigating the same system you're about to enter. That's a different kind of knowledge, and it shows in the quality of advice and support we give.
When you work with Imtiyaz Education, you're not getting a checklist. You're getting people who know from personal experience exactly what you will need, what will confuse you, what will go wrong if you're not prepared, and how to make sure none of it becomes your problem.
That's what we offer. And it starts with a free conversation.
Reach out to us through turkeyuniversity.org , the team is available, and we'll get back to you same day.
Turkish universities accept direct applications from international students. So why use Imtiyaz Education? Three reasons:
Speed: our established relationships with university admissions offices mean your application is processed faster than a cold direct submission.
Accuracy: document errors are the leading cause of application delays. We have processed thousands of applications and know exactly what each university requires.
On-the-ground support: no online portal replaces having a team physically in Istanbul who can walk into an office with your documents when something needs resolving in person.
Is the Imtiyaz service free for students?
Our consultation and application support services are free for students. We are compensated directly by the universities we work with, similar to how travel agencies work with hotels. You pay no additional fee for using our service.
Which universities do you work with?
We have contracted relationships with over 60 universities across Istanbul, Ankara, and Northern Cyprus — covering medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, business, law, architecture, aviation, and arts. Our website at turkeyuniversity.org lists verified fee data for all of them.
Can you help students who are already in Turkey?
Yes. Students who have already arrived in Turkey can contact us for ikamet support, university transfer assistance, and housing help without having applied through us originally.
Do you support minor students (under 18)?
Yes. Our team provides additional support for minor students, coordinating directly with parents and universities on documentation requirements. We advise on any additional legal documentation Turkish authorities require for minors.
