Bartin University
Bartın University is a rapidly growing public university in Turkey that combines a rich academic heritage with modern educational excellence, making it an attractive choice for international students searching for affordable universities in Turkey 2026. Although officially established in 2008 as part of a national higher education expansion initiative by the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education, the university’s history dates back to the 1990s with the founding of the Bartın College of Forestry under Zonguldak University in 1992. This first college began educating students on the Ağdacı campus in the 1993–1994 academic year, laying the foundation for what later became Bartın University.
After its formal establishment in 2008, Bartın University admitted its first international and local students to the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Institute of Social Sciences. Due to the growing number of students from Turkey and abroad, the original Ağdacı campus soon became too small. In 2009, the university expanded by establishing a new campus covering over 1.1 million square meters in the Kutlubey-Yazıcılar and Esenyurt villages, strategically located on the highway to ensure accessibility for international students arriving from Istanbul, Ankara, and beyond.
Since then, Bartın University has experienced continuous growth, both academically and structurally. Between 2010 and 2019, it added new faculties to meet the needs of international students seeking bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programmes in Turkey. These include the Faculty of Education and Arts (2010), Faculty of Science (2011), Institute of Educational Sciences and Faculty of Islamic Sciences (2012), Ulus Vocational School (2017), Faculty of Foreign Languages and Faculty of Health Sciences (2018), and Faculty of Sports Sciences (2019). By presidential decree in 2019, the Faculty of Engineering was restructured and renamed the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, aligning with global academic standards. In the same year, all institutes were unified under the Institute of Higher Education.
Today, in 2026, Bartın University offers 9 faculties, 3 vocational schools, and 1 institute, serving over 20,000 students from Turkey and across the world. It has become a respected institution thanks to its commitment to quality education, research infrastructure, and international cooperation, making it one of the best public universities in Turkey for international students.
For students searching “Bartın University tuition fees for international students 2026” or “how to apply to public universities in Turkey,” the university provides affordable tuition fees compared to many private universities, as well as opportunities for Erasmus+, Mevlana, and Farabi student exchange programs. Bartın University welcomes applications from international students interested in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, with growing recognition in areas such as engineering, business administration, health sciences, education, foreign languages, sports sciences, and Islamic studies.
The university’s mission is to provide world-class higher education in Turkey while supporting the economic, social, and cultural development of the Bartın region. Its vision is to create a research-driven, innovative, and globally connected academic environment. For international students looking to study in Turkey in 2026, Bartın University represents an excellent combination of academic quality, affordable costs, modern facilities, safe student life, and strong international exchange opportunities.
